Allegro Dance Project needs $4,000 for “Come FoUrth,” a project serving all abilities and income levels in Central Kentucky by making the art of dance more accessible and inclusive. Community members of all demographics will enjoy free dance classes at the Lyric Theatre in Lexington, KY, and reap the many benefits that dance has to offer, including increased agility, flexibility, balance and spatial awareness, as well as self-confidence and artistic expression. This season will conclude with a showcase introducing four brand new works featuring contemporary dance, live original music, and a variety of aerial and circus arts. Those new four works explore a variety of subjects and perspectives, such as a reaction to the #MeToo movement, what we leave behind when we pass on and platforms to physically explore new levels. In addition, those who participate in the Inclusive Dance Outreach and Adaptive Dance Program, which serve children with special needs, are invited to perform onstage along the professional company and are provided complimentary tickets for the child and a parent/guardian. Allegro Dance Project aims to expand the impact of the art of dance in Lexington, serving the community and increasing the availability of free arts programming.
